Quick Answers

Common Questions

Is Koh Samui good for beginners?
Yes. The E–SE wind season at Nahai Beach (December–April, most consistent January–March) brings steady wind that suits learning. IKO-certified instruction, radio helmets and safety floats keep lessons safe. Many students complete their first solo ride within a 3-day beginner course.
What are the best months to kitesurf in Koh Samui?
December to April at Nahai Beach is the primary season, and January–March is the most consistent period (typically 12–20 knots). From May to October we ride the SW monsoon at Nathon Beach, typically 10–18 knots and more variable.
Which wind direction works at Koh Samui?
It depends on the season, which is why we use two spots. NE winds in December and SE winds from late January to the end of April work at Nahai Beach on the south coast. SW winds (May–October) work at Nathon Beach on the west coast.
Can you kitesurf year-round in Koh Samui?
Almost. The two seasons are the E–SE wind at Nahai (December–April) and the SW monsoon at Nathon (May–October). October–November is a transition with lighter, variable wind during the rainy season. E-foil, kayak and SUP run on no-wind days.
How strong is the wind in Koh Samui?
Nahai season (Dec–Apr): typically 12–20 knots, most consistent January–March. Nathon season (May–Oct): typically 10–18 knots, more variable, afternoons usually best. Wind is rarely constant all day, so session times follow the forecast.

Season FAQ

Two seasons: the E–SE wind at Nahai Beach, December–April (typically 12–20 kts, peak January–March), and the SW monsoon at Nathon Beach, May–October (typically 10–18 kts, more variable). October–November is a transition with lighter, variable wind.

January, February and March at Nahai Beach — the most consistent E–SE wind (typically 12–20 kts) and the best chance of completing all lesson days without rescheduling. Book accommodation and lessons at least 2 weeks early for these months.

Wing foil requires 12+ knots. Both the Nahai season (Dec–Apr) and the Nathon season (May–Oct) provide enough wind on most days. October–November often drop below this threshold. E-foil sessions are available year-round as no wind is needed.

We reschedule kite and wing foil lessons at no charge when conditions are not suitable. We monitor the forecast daily and contact you the evening before. Extended low-wind periods are least likely January–March at Nahai.
