Planning

A good kite holiday is mostly good planning: the right month, enough days and a place to stay near the beach that has the wind. Here is a simple planning order for a trip to Koh Samui.

1. Pick the Season

MonthsWhere we rideGood for
January – MarchNahai BeachFirst courses — the most consistent wind of the year
December and AprilNahai BeachGood, with a few spare days
May – OctoberNathon BeachRiders who can be flexible; lighter, variable wind
October – November—Island holiday with e-foil, SUP and kayak

2. Decide How Long

  • Try it — 2–3 days is enough for the Discovery lesson and a feel for the sport.
  • Learn to ride — plan a week for the Full Beginner course plus spare days.
  • Ride independently — two weeks gives time for the Full Beginner and Independent courses.

3. Get There

Koh Samui has its own airport (USM), about 35–40 minutes by car from Nahai Beach. The budget route is a flight or train to Surat Thani, then bus and ferry to Nathon pier — right next to Nathon Beach, our May–October spot.

4. Stay Near the Active Beach

From December to April stay close to Nahai — The Ocean Resort is next to the spot and Lamai is 10–15 minutes away. From May to October, stay on the west coast near Nathon. Staying on the wrong side of the island turns every lesson into a long taxi ride.

5. Budget the Lessons

CoursePrice
Discovery (2 h private / 3 h group)5,000 THB
Full Beginner (6 h private / 9 h group)14,000 THB
Independent (10 h private / 15 h group)20,000 THB

All equipment is included. For flights, food and accommodation, see our trip cost guide.

Expert Tip

Book lessons first, then flights and hotel. Once we know your dates we can tell you which beach is active and how the season usually looks.

Plan for Calm Days

No wind does not mean a lost day: e-foil needs no wind at all, and SUP and kayak run from the same beach. Your kite lesson is simply moved to the next good window.
